The first fabrication and heating test of a large-scale CFC monoblock divertor mock-up using annular flow concept have been performed to demonstrate its manufacturability and thermo-mechanical performance. Prior to the fabrication of the mock-up, brazed joint tests between the CFC monoblock and the CuCrZr tube have been carried out to find the suitable heat treatment mitigating loss of the high mechanical strength of the CuCrZr material. Basic mechanical examination on CuCrZr undergoing the brazing heat treatment and FEM analyses are also performed to support the design of the mock-up. High heat flux tests on the large-scale divertor mock-up have been performed in an ion beam facility. The mock-up has successfully withstood more than 1,000 thermal cycles of $$rm 20 MW/m^2$$ for 15 s and 3,000 cycles more than $$rm 10 MW/m^2$$ for 15 s, which simulates the heat load condition of the ITER divertor. No degradation of the thermal performance of the mock-up has been observed throughout the thermal cycle test.

Development of the large-scale fine and non-thermal manufacturing technology using femtosecond, highly- efficient, and high power free-electron laser

Minehara, Eisuke

Proceedings of 28th Linear Accelerator Meeting in Japan, p.402 - 403, 2003/08

The JAERI superconducting RF linac-based free-electron laser has successfully generated 6% highly-efficient, a few hundreds of femtosecond, and several kW class high power FEL light several years ago. In the presentation, it will be reprted that the JAERI plans to develop the higher power free-electron lasers and their application to large-scale non-thermal precision manufacturing technology.

Scientific visual analysis system required for large-scale numerical simulations

Suzuki, Yoshio; Kishimoto, Yasuaki; NEXT Group

Purazuma, Kaku Yugo Gakkai-Shi, 78(1), p.59 - 69, 2002/01

From the year 2000 to 2001, the computer system located on Naka Fusion Research Establishment, Japan Atomic Energy Research Institute has been replaced. Since the main computer is the scalar parallel computer, which is about 40 times superior to the previous one, the amount of data outputted from the numerical simulations becomes much larger. In this paper, which scientific visual analysis system is more useful to extract the physical phenomena from such a large amount of data is investigated and the performance of the established visual analysis system is estimated.
